Freshly baked bread
Craving a slice of freshly baked bread, still hot from the oven? No problem! With this recipe you do not go through all the motions and some heavy duty kneading. You just mix the ingredients, let it stand for half an hour and bake.
Makes 2 standard loaves.
What you’ll need
5 cups white bread flour
2 cups cake flour
1 tablespoon salt
1 sachet instant yeast
850 ml lukewarm water
2 tablespoons olive oil
This is how you do it
Sift the flours and salt together. Add the yeast. Pour the olive oil into the water and stir into the flour mixture. Mix well. Divide the mixture between 2 standard sized bread pans greased with olive oil.
Lightly lay a piece of cling wrap on top of the pans and cover with a clean cloth. Let it stand in a warm place for 30 – 45 minutes until well risen. Normally the bread takes only 30 minutes to rise to its full potential, but on some days you’ll find you have to give it some extra time to rise a little more.
But be sure to check after 30 minutes. Bake for 45 minutes in a preheated oven of 200ºC. Take the breads out of the pans and bake “naked” for another 7 minutes.
